Clock Plate Clocks

February 12, 2012 by Daniel B. Lee No Comments »

These new clock plates by Young & Battaglia for Mineheart made me smile big today. Tick tock time! I love the tiny ticker best because it looks like my clock from childhood. Well, mine was red with a Hello Kitty face, but still…

About these little cuties, “The Clock Plate Clocks designed by Young & Battaglia feature images of vintage clocks printed on to glazed porcelain dinner plates. The family consists of 3 different sized plates which are designed to be hung on the wall either individually or as a set to create a unique and quirky wall feature. Eac

Hotels, Lodging & Restaurants: The Delaunay in Aldwych

February 4, 2012 by Daniel B. Lee No Comments »

London restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, master conjurers of the immersive dining experience (theyre the team behind the Wolseley and the Ivy), have worked their magic again with another Viennese-inspired cafe-restaurant, the Delaunay in Aldwych.

If the Wolseley takes its cue from the glamour of European fin-de-siècle grand cafes, the Delaunay recalls the sophisticated calm of a private mens dining club of the 1920s. Stylist Jenni Juurinen

January 24, 2012 by Daniel B. Lee No Comments »

I really like the work of stylist Jenni Juurinen in Finland and find these two photos from her portfolio quite lovely, particularly the spoons dipped in neutral color paints and the gorgeous wallpaper…

January 13, 2012 by Daniel B. Lee No Comments »

My perfect evening would consist of dining on new Nordic cuisine in the simple, honest interiors of Copenhagens Restaurant Radio.

Self-professed “gastronomic entrepreneur” Claus Meyer has added another restaurant to his culinary empire, which includes Noma, the two-star Michelin restaurant where the new Nordic cuisine movement began, along with a vinegar brewery and several farms. Restaurant Radio is about high-quality seasonal ingredients from Meyers farms, cooked by talented people with attitude, and served in a modern urban setting.

Collaborating with graphic designer Christina Meyer Bengtsson, the young Danish design firm HolmbackNordentoft have imbued the interiors with an equally local sensibility.

Dot Carpet by HAY

January 7, 2012 by Daniel B. Lee No Comments »

I have a total carpet crush and can’t wait to share my latest design obsession… I’m currently smitten with the Dot Carpet in 100% wool made of felted balls, over a thousand of them, per rug! Created by Scholten and Baijings for HAY in Denmark, I really love the one shown below with the hot pink balls in the grid pattern and the gray and white version – so stunning – I imagine walking on one would feel like a mini massage.

Such a pretty piece for any home, any style. Available
